“S(t)imulating Democracy” is a workshop that explores how role-playing European institutions can bring democracy to life in high schools. Many students find the European Union distant or difficult to understand, but simulations turn the classroom into a hands-on laboratory for citizenship. Instead of just listening to lectures, students take on roles as leaders to learn how laws and decisions are actually made through debate and the search for compromise. In reference to the Council of Europe’s Framework (RFCDC), we will examine how these simulations cultivate key democratic values, including respect, cooperation, and openness.
Ultimately, this workshop will serve as the starting point for a wider initiative leading to an Erasmus+ application (KA154 Youth Participation) gathering members of EUNET.
